Disaster Response Through the Greenwood District

With all the devastation that has happened and is yet to happen in the wake of Hurricane Harvey and the anticipation of Hurricane Irma, it is really hard to say all that will be needed right now. However, we do know that flood (cleaning) buckets and health kits will be needed.

The Greenwood District is accepting contributions from individuals, church organizations, and churches toward assembling flood (cleaning) buckets and health kits. You may send your checks made payable to the Greenwood District (enter disaster relief in the item line on your check) and mail to PO Box 49968, Greenwood SC 29649. An announcement will be made at a later time with details for a district packing party to assemble the buckets. Be on the lookout for all the details.
Contributions may also be made to UMCOR’s Advance U.S. Disaster Response, (#901670), which allows UMCOR to respond quickly and appropriately to emergencies in the United States, such as what’s going on right now in Texas.
Early Response Teams (ERT) are not being deployed as yet. In the meantime, if you are interested in participating on an ERT but have not yet been trained, please check out the dates for upcoming training opportunities.
