  1. Hello,
I keep the web page for the Columbia District. I really like your WordPress Site. Our site is very date. I coded the first one in 1997. What theme are you using? Did you design the site or was in contracted out? I would like to talk to the person who did the design work. I am a lay person and all my work is volunteer. Thank you for your help.
    Peace and Grace, Paul

    • Hi Paul,

I do all the webpage and graphic design for the Greenwood District. So I get the blame and credit for whatever is published! :-)

I’m glad you like the design of our web page. I created the header in Photoshop, saved it as a jpg and then just uploaded it to the WordPress site. Currently we are using the Twenty Ten template. However, when I get back from vacation, I’m planning on changing it to the Graphene template because that one will let me use the Smooth Slide plugin so I can scroll announcement across the page like the conference web site.

Most of the WordPress templates are customizable to an extent and will say so in the details on the template.

Jim Crews, Matt, and Russ are great resources…very patient and helpful as you’re trying to get a new website active. I’ll be glad to help as much as I can.

Hope this has answered some of your questions. Feel free to contact me any time.

      Martha

  2. I am sending you this email because of a charge conference on Sunday July 20 held at Wightman Church, Prosperity. This meeting was about a land purchase close to our church in which everyone agreed that the vision committee brought to us was necessary because we are landlocked. Many options was brought out about this purchase, this had already gone through the discipline steps of vision committee approval, trustee, then administrative council. This meeting had at least a 100 or more people present for the charge conference, the majority of the people were not in agreement with the purchase as it is written. Questions were asked to the elder in charge why we didn’t have a church conference before an approval of the administrative council, also a question was asked if we could have a vote of people present on this and he said NO. The majority of these people present are the contributing members of the church, in which they feel they had not vote and feel like we were left out and railroaded into this purchase. Our church is already starting to decline in attendance and monetary contributions due to change in leadership in which we were railroaded out of an excellent leader. My CONCERN is this will add more division to our church and monetary contributions which will affect our church and our contribution to the Greenwood district. This may split out church the way it was handled. The people of our church have spoken out and we want to reverse this decision. Please follow up with the elder of this charge conference and our church leaders. Please reply to this email. Thank you, Randy Suber

  3. Howdy! I was born and raised in Greenwood, South Carolina (I am 54 years old, and I now live in Little Rock, Arkansas). I left South Carolina in 1984, but from 1961-May, 1984, I lived with my family and I attended Bethlehem Methodist Church in the community of Coronaca (the church became Bethlehem United Methodist Church in the late 1960’s). I am trying to find the history of the church I was raised in. Could you please help me, or possibly give me a source that I may contact for the historical information on the matter?

    Thanks,

  4. great points altogether, you simply gained a new reader.
What could you suggest in regards to your post that you
just made some days ago? Any positive?

  5. Good day to you. My name is Scott Blumenthal. I am 47 years old and I live in the small town of Boonville, Missouri with my 37 year old wife Shannon and our 6 year old daughter who has special needs.

The purpose of this message is to request prayer for my job situation. At the present time I am working two jobs here in Boonville, Missouri but would very much like to find one better paying job to replace both of the jobs that I currently have. Unfortunately my primary job doesn’t pay enough on its own and so a 2nd job is necessary to help my family and I to make ends meet.

I am a switchboard operator at the Boonville Correctional Center and I am also working part time as a cashier at Loves travel stop on the southwest edge of town. I work at the correctional center Monday through Friday from 8:00 to 4:30 and I also work at Loves on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5 to 10. Up until recently I had been working on Saturdays as well but recently I was able to cut that day out of my schedule.

In case you were wondering, no this is not a spam email and yes I am a legitimate person requesting prayer for myself and my family in regard to my job situation. I have been a born again Christian for 30 years and my wife and daughter and I attend a Lutheran church in Columbia, Missouri. Everything about me and about this message is legitimate.

Working two jobs is difficult and stressful at times and makes for some really long days on Mondays and Wednesdays which are the two days when I work both jobs in the same day. I do have a bachelor’s degree in sociology but I haven’t really been able to do anything nor did I ever have a real plan as to what I wanted to do with that degree. Getting through college was a major ordeal for me but I pressed onward and got a bachelor’s degree even though it took me 8 years to do it.

I will be the first to admit that yes I did make some poor decisions during my college years and didn’t have a plan as to what I wanted to do with my life and didn’t know how I was going to utilize my degree. I am 47 years old now and I feel like I have wasted half of my life working in dead end jobs and have never in all these years been able to get myself established in a good career. I would hate to think that it’s too late for me to get established in a decent career at this point in time but that very well may be the case due to my age and lack of qualifications.

I very much want to find one better paying job to replace both of the jobs that I currently have, but I am running into a couple of major obstacles as I try to accomplish this goal. First of all I don’t have the qualifications necessary to land most jobs that pay halfway decent. And secondly Boonville is a small town that offers very little in the way of decent job opportunities. Columbia, Missouri is 23 miles away and offers considerably more in the way of decent job opportunities but there would also be a little bit of a drive involved having to go 50 miles round trip five times a week and that would be too much on both of our vehicles, one of which is 18 years old and has 156,000 miles on it and the other vehicle is 11 years old and has 155,000 miles on it. My wife drives the 11 year old vehicle 30 miles round trip to work 4 times a week and that would leave the 18 year old vehicle to go 50 miles round trip five times a week and that vehicle probably would not last much longer if it had to make that trip every day five times a week.

So as you can see I have a couple of major obstacles standing in the way of me being able to find a better job. It would really help if I could find a decent job right here in Boonville but that’s just not the case right now. If the opportunities were available in this town I would most definitely be pursuing them. I am a hard worker and I’ve never expected someone to hand me something on a silver platter. The opportunities must be made available in order for me to pursue them.

So I am asking that your congregation and prayer chain please be praying that God would open up a door of better opportunity for me right here in Boonville so that I don’t have to drive back and forth to Columbia five times a week. I am hopeful that after you receive this message that you will send me a message back letting me know that you are praying for me and supporting me in this. Once again I am not trying to scam you in any way and I am a legitimate person requesting prayer for myself and my family in my job situation.

I thank you in advance for the prayers and hope to hear from you soon. Thanks so much and have a blessed day :)
