Annual Conference 2020 POSTPONED

The announcement was made this morning, July 10, that due to the continuing rise of COVID-19 infections, Annual Conference has been postponed. Full details are on the Conference website:

The Clergy Session will convene virtually on August 1 at 9:00 a.m. The Ordination and Commissioning Service will still take place on August 8 but will be at St. John’s UMC in Aiken.

  • Virtual Clergy Session (August 1 | 9 a.m.) – To ensure that all are prepared technologically, clergy are encouraged to participate in one of two virtual training sessions – scheduled for July 23 (10 a.m.) and July 24 (2 p.m.). Eligible clergy will be notified directly about details.
  • Service of Commissioning and Ordination (August 8 | 2 p.m.) – The service will take place at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Aiken. Attendance will be restricted to candidates for commissioning and ordination and a limited number of their guests. Candidates will be notified directly about details. Others can watch the live-stream, which will be available via a link at

COVID-19 Test Sites Across South Carolina

Offered by DHEC in Greenwood:

(1) July 8: Brewer Center in Greenwood, 126 N. University St., Greenwood 29646;

(2) July 22: P.L.E.A.D. Center in the Promised Land, 122 New Zion Rd., Bradley ;

(3) July 28: Morris Chapel Baptist Church, 530 Baptist St.,  Greenwood.

All tests are free. There is no need to make an appointment; this is drive-through testing. Anyone tested should receive a call with their test results within 48-72 hours.

Other testing opportunities across the state made available by Seventh Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church:

The Seventh Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church will host free COVID-19 testing from July 8 -11, 2020. Interested persons do not have to register or get a doctor’s referral to get tested at one of the sites. Walk-up and drive-thru testing will be available at each location, and more information is as follows:
